Strong governance is the backbone of any nonprofit or charitable organization. Regardless of your organization’s size or scope, ensuring that your board is engaged, aligned, and functioning effectively is essential for long-term success.

This workshop offers a comprehensive overview of the three interconnected areas of board responsibility – fiduciary, strategic, and generative – and highlights how boards can focus on the organization as a whole while working cohesively as a team.

In this session, participants will explore:

  • The principles of good governance and the foundations of effective board collaboration
  • The roles and responsibilities of individual board members and the board as a collective, including the three key areas of responsibility: fiduciary, strategic, and generative
  • The role of the senior executive, the distinctions between board and staff, and how both groups can work together effectively
